I can't pass up testing out Aussie brands, especially ones that are Sydney based and harness native Australian botanical derivatives such as Desert Lime, Davidson Plum and Kangaroo Apple. There's nothing quite like the bouquet and unique experience of our large and remote island.
SCOUT Cosmetics released a line of skincare using those very ingredients to cleanse, treat and moisturise a variety of skin types. SCOUT also offers a range of mineral makeup and all products in the range are cruelty free.

Daily Revitalise Cleansing Creme - $34.95AUD
This rich cream cleanser is designed for dry skin. It contains Coconut Oil and Papaya Enzymes, which bind to dirt and oil, plus allow for a gentle exfoliation, respectively. Papaya is the gentle option for dry skin, where acids may serve to irritate. Kakadu Plum, a rich source of Vitamin C, serves to protect skin from free radical damage and overall support the skin's structure. Lemon Myrtle Oil offers a fresh and uplifting fragrance.
This is a very thick cleanser in a 150mL clear bottle with pump, and a little goes a long way. It is best to use it straight on dry, or only slightly damp skin, especially after removing makeup. The directions say two pumps, but I like to use three or four. I warm it up in my hands prior to massaging it into my face. Because this is a rinse off product and contains papaya, it's best to leave it on the skin for a minute or so before removing. I like to lather it up with water, so it becomes milky and remove it with my hands, but a face cloth is recommended. I tend to also use this in my evening routine, but it can be used in both the morning and evening.
Thoughts?
I absolutely adore this cleanser, but that might be my bias towards cream and balm formulas. I don't find myself to be sensitive to the essential oils and extracts, so it's overall a positive experience for me. It leaves my skin clean without feeling stripped.

Vitamin C Brightening Serum - $45.95AUD
Vitamin C has been my continuous active recently to help keep my skin bright and healthy. Kakadu Plum features again in this fruity serum, along with Turmeric (Curcumin) for its anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. Hyaluronic Acid, Rosehip Oil, and Aloe Vera makes the formula moisturising. It claims to leave skin hydrated and stimulate production of collagen and elastin, thus making the dermis stronger.
The serum is like a watery moisturiser and is recommended to be used morning and evening by patting a few drops onto cleansed skin prior to moisturiser. The 30mL clear bottle comes with an eye dropper.
Thoughts?
I can't say I loved this product. I did like it, but I didn't notice much in the way of my complexion improving, and I don't think it lived up to its claims. Given that the source of Vitamin C is Kakadu Plum extract, there is probably no indication of exact concentration, so it may vary by batch and also not been stable enough to deliver a therapeutic dose.
.
Balance & Replenish Light Moisturiser - $39.95AUD
This moisturiser is packed with the good stuff, including the heroes Kakadu Plum and Rosehip Oil, plus extracts of Calendula to help soothe skin, and Pumpkin Seed Oil. Hyaluronic Acid offers its humectant help to all the oils in this luxurious Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil base formula.
The cream is rather thick, it can hold up its own, and comes in a 50mL clear bottle with a pump. Two pumps are recommended for use morning and night for oily skin.
Thoughts?
This is the latest addition to my routine, however, I was kind of skeptical by the "light" claim, as it is targeted for oily types and I'm the polar opposite. However, given that my skin has suddenly changed from producing no oil to letting me wake up with a greasy face every morning, I think this fits in perfectly. I do notice that my skin is still a little uncomfortably tight after using it, but it settles down after a while.
.
Overall, I am really happy that I got to try this range. My favourite product would have to be the cleanser because of how gentle, yet effective it is. I hope to try some of the other products in the range, including some of the makeup.
