Australis are back at it with a new foundation formula, Liquid Elixir, the new way to get the NO MAKEUP look and feel!
Liquid Elixir Serum Foundation. |
I've been using Australis products for as long as I can remember, and being able to regularly feature their products on my blog is a great privilege. They are a brand who give easy access to hot beauty trends with quality products and great prices. The new sheer cover Liquid Elixir Serum Foundation found itself on my desk this week, and it's something I am totally wanting to tell everybody about!
The serum is based on Silicones, which make it ideal for oily skin. It has ingredients listed by their common chemical names that offer hydration and film forming features to nourish the skin during wear. Vitamin E is an antioxidant added to fight free radical damage, and also to help naturally preserve the product.
There are six shades available in this new range that are based on undertones and come in two shade depths:
Cool: Pink, Red or Blue – C30, C35
Neutral: Mix of Cool and Warm – N10, N20
The unusual thing about the formula is that the pigment covers imperfections, but disappears, even on my pasty skin. I am using the W15 shade, which I initially thought was way too dark. I did receive three other shades, and I was hoping one of them was the N10, as it is the lightest (it wasn't in the box), however, I have a reason to believe that my warm undertones allowed for the pigment to match my skin without being too light or too dark. There is no obvious discrepancy in colour match. Because of the serum texture of the product, the best way to use it is to apply and pat it in with fingertips, just like any other skin care product. I don't recommend using a sponge or brush.

Analysis
Texture: Runny Fluid
Formula Base: Water
Coverage: Sheer (buildable to Medium)
Colour Match: Good
Undertone: Yellow/Peach
Finish: Natural
Wear: 6 hours, no caking
Other: Feels completely weightless
Product applied to right side of my face, left side is bare. |
Notice that the right side of my face has a more even complexion and the darkness under my eye is diminished. The overall texture of my skin looks slightly blurred, probably due to the silicone-derivative base. Skin feels smooth and hydrated.
I posted the photo below on my Facebook to ask my friends if I was wearing foundation or not. Some thought I wasn't, others were a little funny and called it "Schrödinger's Foundation". I do agree with the latter, only because my friends (and myself) are so used to seeing me bare-faced or full on made up in photos, and real life, but the coverage is so natural that it's almost impossible to tell whether I am wearing something or just have really good skin (which most of the time I do). People in real life were saying that it looks like I'm not wearing anything, and I am inclined to agree with them.

Thoughts?
I was pleasantly surprised by the formula, the coverage, the colour and the overall feel and wear of Liquid Elixir. I don't know how the pigments work, but they do. I can't flaw it, except that I don't know how it'll work for lighter and deeper skin tones. It works really well for me.
Liquid Elixir Serum Foundation is $24.95AUD from Australis Cosmetics, and will be on shelf in Priceline stores March 2017!
Will you be trying out this new innovation? Let me know!
