MASKED BY MODELS || Dead Sea Mud Magnetic Mask + Launch Party || #RivetReview

Jessica Earle is a model whose skin hasn't reacted well to many skincare products on the market. Jessica made it her mission to create a line of masking products that are suitable for sensitive skin, but still offer a bit of luxury in your life.

Masked By Models was born, and I got to share the launch with Jessica, her family and friends, and now I get to share this range with you!

LAUNCH PARTY

Image Description: Masked By Models product display wall with gold circular column tables with the product range on top. The back wall is white with the brand logo in gold and text that reads 'M BY M, Masked By Models', there are clear balloons with gold confetti inside and gold frills on the ropes placed around the display.

A white and gold themed party was held in a photography studio in Sydney's South. The dress code had me a little stuck but I managed to throw together an outfit.

There was plenty of food and drink, including a giant mezze style platter with cheese, bread, and dips supplied by Phat Platter, cakes and sweets by Caked By Carissa, logo cookies by The Cookie Star Sydney, and drinks by Bear Essentials and Bone Dry.

The evening concluded with a demonstration of all the products in the line. Jessica Earle presented and demonstrated each product on four different people. Her stunning dress was provided by Peter Trends Bridal.

PRODUCT RANGE

There are five products in the range. All the products have been formulated with sensitive skin in mind and offer a chance for your skin to glow without any harsh ingredients.

24K Gold Facial Treatment - RRP $149.95AUD

Image description: 24K Gold Facial Treatment display box, a small bottle of serum, and gold leaf in a white bowl.

The creme de la creme of masks. This mask has been inspired by Victoria's Secret models who use real gold leaf in their routine to create a glowing complexion before hitting the runway. This kit contains the 24K Gold Flawless Glow Serum and real gold leaf to be used as a luxurious treatment in the comfort of your own home. This is the first of its kind to be sold by an Australian brand.

To use, simply apply the serum and press a the large gold sheets on your cheeks, and small gold sheets on your chin, nose and forehead. To remove, simply apply some more serum and massage your skin until the gold leaf breaks down and now all you have to do is admire your gorgeous glow!

.

24K Gold 'Golden Alchemy' Magnetic Mask - RRP $89.95AUD

Image description: Golden Lustre Mask display box, jar filled with gold product, and a gold magnet and applicator tool.

If you're a little more budget conscious, the Golden Alchemy mask offers the same level of golden glow, but with extra hydration benefits. The mask contains skin loving ingredients such as Collagen, Vitamin C, and Hyaluronic Acid.

To use, apply a thick layer of the mask with the applicator and smooth out with a brush or your fingers. Leave on for at least 15 minutes, and then use the magnet to remove the mask. Iron powder in the formula allows the magnet to remove the mask and leave behind all the good stuff, plus the gold. At this point, you will have a gorgeous layer of gold that can be rubbed into your skin prior to applying makeup, for that superstar glow!

.

Dead Sea Mud 'Black Lustre' Magnetic Mask - RRP $79.95AUD

Image Description: Black Lustre Mask box, jar of dark grey product, gold magnet and applicator.

The sister to the Golden Alchemy mask, Black Lustre is packed full of Dead Sea Mud to aid in the treatment of troublesome skin and soothe breakouts. It also contains Beeswax, Squalene, and Vitamin E to restore the natural moisturising factors in your skin.

To use, follow the same instructions for the Golden Alchemy mask, but wipe off excess product with a hot towel and see your radiant glow!

.

Rosehip Pink Clay Mask - RRP $64.95AUD

Image Description: Rosehip Pink Clay Mask display boxes, jar of pastel pink product, unopened jar with an elaborate gold lid, and an applicator.

Jessica's answer to the masks she had bad reactions to. Pink Clay has been a huge skincare trend for over a year now, but some of the products on the market have caused irritation to some. The masks on the market are targeted more towards the oily and acneic skins, leaving nothing much in the way of sensitive skin. Australian Pink Clay joins French Rose Clay, Fuller's Earth, and Bentonite to create a clay mix that will deep cleanse skin. Rice Enzyme offers its exfoliation properties, Hyaluronic Acid attracts moisture to your skin, and Aloe Vera Gel binds everything together. The mask has a pleasant rose fragrance.

To use, as with any mask, apply with the applicator and fingers/brush, leave on for at least 15 minutes, and wipe off with a hot towel, then enjoy your soothed glow!

.

24K Gold Flawless Glow Serum 30ml - RRP $59.95AUD

Image description: 24K Gold Flawless Glow Serum display box, open bottle of serum, and unopened bottle of serum.

To finish off your masking experience and give you the model glow at all other times, the Gold Flawless Glow Serum can be purchased on its own. It contains antioxidant rich Rosehip Oil and White Tea Extract, soothing Aloe Vera, Tumeric and Arnica Extracts, moisturising Cocoa Butter, and hydrating Hyaluronic Acid.

To use, apply morning and evening. Can be used as a primer or mixed into foundation for your daily model glow!

I was kindly gifted this beautiful serum, and I will be trying it at a later time.

DEAD SEA MUD MAGNETIC MASK

I was offered a pick between the Golden Alchemy and Black Lustre masks, and knowing my skin has been so troublesome recently, I chose the mud!

Image description: Flatlay styled product image featuring the Black Lustre Mask display box, unopened jar of product, magnet, applicator, 24K Gold Flawless Glow Serum display box and unopened bottle.

The kit comes complete with the mask, a magnet, sleeves for the magnet, and an applicator. I tried using the applicator initially, but it didn't apply the product well and felt like it may have been the wrong choice to include in the kit (aside from being used scooping out product from the jar), a suggestion taken well and future kits may include a brush. When I applied the mask to take these photos, I used a flat foundation brush that I use for masking.

Image description: Four panel collage.
1. Before image, Rivet, a pale woman wearing a pink headband staring blankly into the camera. Her skin is looking dull.
2. Rivet looking away from the camera and applying a dark grey product to her right cheek with a brush.
3. Rivet looking away from the camera and applying a dark grey product to her forehead with a brush.
4. Rivet looking at the camera and smiling with the mask fully applied.

The mask goes on the skin beautifully and feels very soothing. It has an almost lip balm like, so make sure you get your hair out of the way.

The fun part is the removal. Because the product contains powdered iron, it basically acts as a ferrofluid and the bulk of the mask can be removed with the magnet. You'll feel this little tingle as the ferrofluid is attracted to the magnet. Check out the cool formations. The magnet can be used with the sleeve provided if you are sharing the device, but I found it didn't remove the product well, so I went in with the bare magnet and hovered it very close to my skin, rather than touching it directly. The magnet can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol between uses.

Image description: Four panel collage.
1. Rivet smiling at the camera wearing the mask and holding the magnetic mask removal device in her left hand.
2. Rivet's head turned to the side with the magnet passing over her left cheek and removing the mask.
3. Rivet smiling at the camera with the product removed and magnet held up to show the ferrofluid.
4. After photo, Rivet looking directly at the camera and smiling with her purple hair out. Her skin looks clear and plump.

A hot towel removed the excess residue and my skin felt so hydrated and plump!

Thoughts?

I absolutely loved this idea from the get go, and the Black Lustre Mask is no exception. The whole line is luxurious, but accessible. It's cruelty free, however, it does contain animal derivatives, so it isn't vegan. If you're looking for a spa treatment to have at home, this would be a great choice. It also makes an ideal gift if you're looking for something unique. Most masks aren't recommended to be used right before big events as they may cause irritation, but I think this line is going to change that!

  1. Great blog post. Needed to find something to show my skin some love but have allergies. Is there nuts in the product? Xo

    1. You'll have to check under each of the individual products for ingredients, but from what I know, some do contain Shea Butter, which can be a potential allergen for those allergic to nuts.

  2. Interesting product. I've never heard of using a magnet to remove a mask.

    1. The mask needs to have iron powder in it in order for it to work :)
