Brite Organix Matte Lipstick #RivetReview + Swatches

Brite Organix are known for their bright and bold “fashion” hair colours. As an ethics driven brand, they are 100% Cruelty Free and Vegan, along with having options for semi-permanent and temporary hair colour from all over the spectrum. And yes, I'm a #BRITEBABE right now!

Brite Organix Matte Lipstick

In 2016, Brite Organix released a range of nine Matte Liquid Lipsticks in 9 on-trend colours, with shade names such as “Hella” and “Dope”, ranging from nudes to deep darks to brights, embracing their ethics and offering the Australian market another range of Cruelty Free matte lipsticks at an affordable price point.

Brite Organix were kind enough to send me eight of the nine shades to play with!

The Colours
The nine shades seem to lean towards being very similar, especially with the lighter nudes, and are probably very good dupes for shades by some of the big, international brands and matte lipstick lines. The similarities in about four of the shades can make it slightly difficult to pick a single shade that you know will suit you, however, these colours are definitely what has been popular in the past year and is still popular today. I'm looking forward to adding some of the shades to my pro makeup kit.

DOPE – Tea Rose
FINE – Muted Red Brown
FRESH – Dark Peachy Pink
HELLA – Muted Peachy Red
LIKE – Light Peachy Pink
MAD – Dark Blood Red
PLAYA – True Red
SNAPS – Chocolate Brown
SUP – Cyclamen

Lip swatches were taken with a three point "studio" lighting set up. Products were applied using disposable lip applicators for hygiene purposes. I did not wear any foundation in the photos.

Wear test: DOPE - immediately after drying down.

The Formula
Each tube contains 9mL of product and has a flat shaped wand applicator. The formula contains Shea Butter and Argan Oil, two very moisturising ingredients, so your lips don't get too dry. It applies smoothly without looking patchy, and dries down to a matte finish, however, takes longer than most other liquid lipsticks. It does dry to a mostly transfer-proof finish after about 15 minutes, but even then I have managed to remove product by pressing my lips together or touching them with my finger. I have noticed a bit of wear around the inside of my mouth after about half an hour, but this is probably due to me subjecting the product to lots of lip pressing. It has no fragrance, a usage period of 12 months, and removes very easily with micellar water.

Wear
Longwear lipsticks don't wear that long on me, so I tested it out for an hour. The product started balling up at the inner portion of my lip, it's okay for this kind of shade, but if I were wearing a darker or vivid colour, I would just remove and reapply. I can feel that I'm wearing something, but it's not an uncomfortable dry feeling. I don't imagine this to survive me eating and drinking anything. I did have a glass of water and a piece of cheese during this time.

Wear test: DOPE - after 1 hour.
Thoughts?
This product ticks most of the boxes, but lacks diversity in the colour range, given that there is potential for more "fashion" colours in today's market. However, at the price point, $9.99AUD, they are worth a go, especially for international folk, because shipping is really cheap and the exchange rate is working in your favour.

Whilst the range of Brite Organix hair products are available at Priceline and Woolworths stores, the Matte Lipsticks are only available to order online through Brite Organix (Aus/NZ) or one of their official distributors (International) for $9.99AUD each.

Have you tried these? Let me know!

This product was supplied as a PR sample, my thoughts are honest.

  1. Dope and Hella look like awesome colours. I've never heard of this brand before. Is this the same brand that makes your hair colour too?

    1. I thought after one wash that the purple would fade from the underneath. Directions definitely did. Brite, not even.
