#RivetEmpties Week
Day 3
I wouldn't be Rivet Licker without my
signature blue hair - 4.5 years and counting. All that maintenance
has me going through loads of products, or does it? I also question
why it takes me a year or two to get through a single bottle of
shower gel.
#RivetEmpties - Hair & Body |
My hair needs a bit of work to colour. It's very dark brown, almost black, and in order for it to take blue pigment, I have to lighten it significantly.
#RivetEmpties - Hair Colour |
In alphabetical order by brand.
BRITE Organix
Bleach Kit [Full Size] - I used up at least two or three boxes, and didn't keep all the tubes, only those of the Hair Mask. My hair actually lifted from a very deep brown to a pale yellow, perfect for taking on colour. The Hair Masks are also really good at restoring hair after the bleaching process.
Repurchase?
Yes, especially when they are on sale, they're worth every last cent.

BRITE Organix
Semi Permanent Hair Colour "Turquoise" + "Blue" [Full Size] - I used up two of these colouring my hair when I had it done professionally (by a recent hairdressing graduate I went to school with). I was looking for a suitable alternative to Directions and found this Aussie/NZ brand that's easy to get and performs in comparison to my then colour mix.
Repurchase?
Yes, always!
La Riche
Directions Hair Colour "Turquoise" [Full Size] - my go to colour (or at least one of them, the other being Crazy Color Peacock Blue) for the past 4 years. It doesn't have the best longevity on its own, hence why I mixed it, but the colour was what I wanted to achieve, and have over the years.
Repurchase?
Maybe, I probably will in the future.
.
What do I use to take care of my hair? The usual.

Appelles Apothacary & Lab
Wheat Protein Shampoo & Planiflora Conditioner [Trial Size] - my flight to Sydney got cancelled and I was put up in a really nice hotel for the night. My hair needed washing badly, and this is what was provided in the amenities. I only took them home because I used half of the darned thing and didn't want to waste the rest. Nice shampoo and conditioner combo, very fresh and herbal.
Repurchase?
Maybe, I actually really like the shampoo.
Batiste
Dry Shampoo Vibrant & Alluring "Marrakech" [Full Size] - Batiste is probably my favourite brand of dry shampoo, however, I was not very fond of this fragrance.
Repurchase?
Not this fragrance.

BRITE Organix
Masque for Split Ends "Pineapple" [Full Size] - I'm actually pleasantly surprised how well this worked. It also smells amazing, like that synthetic pineapple fragance, but amazing.
Repurchase?
Maybe, I just have a few treatments to use up first.
Lush
Damaged Hot Oil Hair Treatment [Single Use] - this took a bit of work in the melting department, but as a treatment, I quite liked it. It also cleanses hair gently like a conditioner wash, because of its very low surfactant content.
Repurchase?
Maybe, but as above.

Lush
Sea Spray Hair Mist [Full Size] - Lush's answer to beach waves. I must admit, it was just sitting in the cupboard for a long time with a handful of spritzes left, I just didn't clear it out for the previous #RivetEmpties, oops.
Repurchase?
Probably not, I'd like to try out other brands.

#RivetEmpties - Body |
1000 Hour
Softsole Express Exfoliating Foot Peel [Single Use] - I am a fan of this; especially when my feet begin to peel. So satisfying! This is also the cheapest on the market.
Repurchase?
Yes, I have a backup already.

Appelles Apothecary & Lab
Comfrey Hand & Body Wash [Trial Size] - another item I used on that hotel stay, and didn't want to waste (there's also a body lotion which I have not finished yet, but did indeed use).
Repurcahse?
No, although I liked the fragrance, it's a bit too pricey!
Baanidin
Spa Ball for Face [Accessory] - I bought this at Beauty Expo so I could give myself a hot stone type massage at home. My Mum hated the smell (which wasn't pungent or anything, but traditional of Thai herbs), so it didn't get much use. It had a use period of about 30 days, where you would dip this ball filled with clay, rice and Eastern herbs and spices in boiling water (or heat it up in the microwave) and use it to massage the skin. The herbs and spices gave it fragrance and some therapeutic properties, but it was probably just entirely down to the heat.
Repurchase?
No, my Mum won't let me ever have something that "stinks" like this in the house again.
Lush
Beautiful Shower Gel 250mL [Full Size] - my friend traveled to London when the Lush Oxford Street store had just opened, and I requested a small bottle of Beautiful and a few other exclusive SGs. He bought me the medium. It took a while to get through and I eventually poured it into a dispenser to use as hand wash.
Repurchase?
Maybe in the future, but for now, backlog of Lush SGs is ridiculous!

Natio
Natio For Men Fresh Antiperspirant Deodorant [Full Size] - I think this is one of my favourite antiperspirant deodorants out there. I use roll-on deodorant because Rexona is the only other thing that works, but it's tested on animals. Natio isn't, so the choice is obvious.
Repurchase?
Probably.

SKINN by Dimitri James
Love & Lotus Body Polish & Body Butter [Full Size] - an oddly fragranced pair of a body scrub and really THICK body butter.
Repurchase?
I don't even know if this line still exists.

There should be more shower gels, but they have been in shower rotation for too long and still have product in them!
