#RivetEmpties Week
Day 5
WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD!
All items featured in this and previous #RivetEmpties posts will be disposed of thoughtfully.
#RivetEmpties - Purge Day |
Skincare that just did not make the cut to be used up. What happened in this instance is that I had these products out, either on the bathroom vanity, or around the house, and then my Mum decided to "put them away" during her cleaning sprees. Some also fell behind other products and I really just forgot that they were there. Welcome to my house - where items always go missing from the bathroom and remain hidden in random nooks and crannies.
#RivetEmpties PURGE - Skincare |
In alphabetical order by brand.
Designer Brands
Paw Paw Plus - I almost finished this, but it was hiding for a while.
Full Review
Lacura
Renew Blur Perfect - this was Aldi's version of blurring creams/primers.
Lacura
Spa Exfoliation Face Scrub - another Aldi version of popular apricot scrubs.
Lush
Lip Lime - a Retro order from several years back that smelled amazing, but was bad for my lips.
Lush
Ultrabalm - another that went missing among the bathroom staples. I have so many ointments now.
Nip+Fab
Frown Fix - fell behind a bunch of products and I forgot about it.
Full Review
Nude By Nature
BB 5 in 1 Miracle Cream "Fair" - adverse reaction.
Optrex Acti-Mist
For Itchy & Watery Eyes - eye drops always seem to stick around for longer than they should and I didn't find these very useful, anyway.
Sunday Riley
Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer - supposed to be like a tinted moisturiser and primer in one, but I wasn't too thrilled about the negligible coverage.
SunSense
Moisturising Face SPF50+ - would have been used more if somebody hadn't hidden it. Thankfully, I am now in a habit of using a sun protection product in my routine.
Full Review
Yes To
Coconut Cleansing Wipes - don't use on face, it burns.
Full Review
.
The shower gel fiasco - I never seem to finish them because they hide and I forget about them. Most of this is Lush and there is more in the cupboard, but so misplaced and not even worth digging out to take a photo - straight to the recycling bin (or back to Lush if it's a pot).
Lush
B Electro Shower Gel - Lush Retro LE tended to sell shower gels in 250g bottles. I had this in the shower forever and used it so much, but not enough to finish it before it found its final resting place in the cupboard.
Lush
Fair Trade Foot Lotion - a hidden wonder that I found by chance, in time to dispose of it.
Lush
First Snow Dusting Powder - I liked to use dusting powders at one point, but this was full of sparkles that went everywhere. It's too bad that it was scented with one of my top 3 Lush fragrances. Grr!
Lush
Grass Shower Gel - I can't believe it did this.
Lush
Helping Hands Hand Cream - hidden away with the Fair Trade Foot Lotion. I'm pretty sure I stopped using this because it turned rancid well before the expiry date.
Lush
Silky Underwear Dusting Powder - this was my dusting powder of choice.
Lush
Superbalm Scalp Treatment - I probably didn't like it enough to remember to use it.
Revitanail
Keratin Strengthening Complex - this got hidden in a box and I forgot about it.
Sugarbaby
Aloe Sailor Soothing & Moisturising Skin Cream - hidden from the bathroom vanity.

Now onto makeup, first the eyes.
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Dipbrow Pomade "Ebony" - dried out before I had a chance to use it up, and I actually loved it.
Boe Beauty
Liquid Eyeliner "Purple" - $2 liquid liner I bought for the sake of it, never actually got used for any looks.
BYS
Eyeshadow Palette "#8 Midnight Shores" - I probably bought this before I had any high end makeup. I swear this is from about 2010 or so.
Chi Chi
Glitter Eyeliner - went rancid and only used in a few looks. I managed to remove the glitter particles from the liner base of the other 3 to have loose glitter. Took a lot of rinsing and scraping glitter off coffee filter papers.
Eve Pearl
Black Pearl Liquid Eyeliner - a nice eyeliner, I'm just hopeless at using them up. Dried up and sat there for longer than it should have.
LOL
Glitter Eye Cream "03 More Champagne" & "04 Let's Party" - what a waste of $4, mind you, I got a laugh when my friend Anna thought it said "LOL Cream". I wish the carrier base wasn't straight up petroleum jelly, because these would have had so much potential at looking good over eyeshadow without ruining the base.
MUD
Gel Eyeliner "Black" - I don't like gel eyeliner as much as liquid pens. I haven't much use with hooded lids.
NYX
Eyeshadow Base "White" - another turned rancid before I got to use it all. I have replaced this with the Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in "Milk" as it's more convenient to apply.
Pur
Cease Crease Eyeshadow Primer - I really loved this product, but I didn't get enough use out of it before it turned. WHY?!?!?!
Pur
Jupiter Ascending Eyeshadow Palette - the eyeshadows in this were chalky and somehow did not transfer onto the brush, and onto my eyelid. It was a real disappointment because the colours were beautiful.
Pur
Perfect Fit Eyeshadow Trio "Matchmaker" - no Yenta jokes here. The eyeshadows were the same as above. I'm pretty sure Pur reformulated them, because they've been getting rave reviews, but these products were just not any good. It's a shame, this colour scheme is so pretty.
Wet n Wild
Gel Liner "Black" - dried up before I could finish it. No point to gels, anyway.
YBF
Xtreme Mascara "Black" - entirely my fault, I had it in storage for way too long, even though it was sealed, it was just too thick and dry by the time I started using it.
Full Review
.
Now with the face, the primers.
Face of Australia
Face Base Primer - this apparent dupe for the Napoleon Perdis AutoPilot primer was left too long.
Full Review
Illamasqua
Matte Primer - the worst possible purchase I could have ever made. There is so much regret behind this.
Pur
Correcting Primer "Prep & Perfect" (white) & "Redness Reducer" (green) - these primers contained AHAs, so I was terrified to use them during the day.
The Balm
Time Balm - it was okay for a while, but silicone primers don't last long before separating.
.
The foundation, concealer, blush, highlight and contours.
Australis
4 in 1 Conceal Correct - didn't do much, slipped to the back.
Boe Professional
Full Coverage Concealer "Medium Deep" - a lie in itself for being deep, I used this to try and contour my pasty face and it didn't work out.
Chi Chi
Super BB Cream "Light" - was too dark so I gave it to Mum and she just did not use it.
Chi Chi
Super CC Cream "Fair" - almost perfect colour match, greasy finish.
Croquis
Dual Concealer (KBeauty) - Victoria from Biohazardous Beauty sent this to me and I used it for a while, but it got old very quickly.
Essence
Hidden Stories Highlighter "Enter Wonderland" & "Rose in Wonderland" - these were pretty, but the formula wasn't right.
Eve Pearl
Dual Salmon Concealer "Fair/Light" - I wish I had got more use out of this, because the formula and coverage is amazing. I left it too long.
Illamasqua
Rich Foundation "115" - used it as a mixer to get full coverage and lighten other foundations, but I never used it enough. I decanted and sent some to Victoria (Biohazardous Beauty).
Illamasqua
Skin Base Foundation "003" - one of the best foundations I have used.
Illamasqua
Skin Base Lift Concealer "Light 1" - I bought this on a whim and I never did like it.
Models Prefer
Mineral Powder Foundation "Light" & "Airbrush Veil" - remind me to not use mineral powder foundations, they don't work for me and often wind up sparkly.
Physician's Formula
Gentle Cover Concealer Stick "Cover Green" - this didn't look too sanitary after a while.
Skinn by Dimitri James
Color Touch "Ever After" - sort of a lip and cheek deal, just didn't impress me enough.
Thin Lizzy
6 in 1 Professional Powder "Light" - I don't want to talk about it, it was Mum's idea to get it.
w7
Light Diffusing Concealer - I don't even know if there's any product left in there, but there certainly wasn't much. It could be empty, but I have no idea.
w7
Photoshoot Foundation "Buff" - I let this one go because it's too dark, and by the time I managed to get myself a lightening mixer, it was ready for the bin.
.

Bare with me, the Lips are the most dense! Lipgloss!
#RivetEmpties PURGE - Lipgloss |
Essence
XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss (shade name unknown) - I had an adverse reaction.
Illamasqua
Intense Lip Gloss "Fierce" - look at how gross it is! I don't think this was even worth the sale price I paid for it, nice colour though.
NYX
Butter Gloss "Raspberry Tart" & "Tiramisu" - I'm kind of going to miss these.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Lip Tar Matte "Pagan" - I never actually wore this outside of a swatch. It wasn't very matte, either.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Lip Tar Metallic "Technopagan" - these have less than a one year shelf life, I've had this for more than two and probably only wore it twice.
Pur
Pout Plumping Lip Gloss "Iced Pearl" - a sticky, typical gloss that looked horrible on me.
Ulta3
Lip Paint "Eclectic Orange" - orange doesn't work for me, but this was nice and minty.
.
Traditional lipsticks and crayon things.
#RivetLicker PURGE - Lipstick |
Australis
Neon Crush UV Reactive Lip Crayon "#LearnToLive" - I didn't realize these were UV reactive until I actually dug them out to throw them out.
BYS
Colour Changing Lipstick "Short Fuse" - purple to pink novelty.
BYS
Lipstick "Spiced Merlot" - this was my favourite lipstick for ages, but I just didn't wear it enough.
NYX
Creamy Round Lipstick "Castle", "Haute Couture" & "Violet Ray" - I hate this formula and the scent. Castle is so pretty.
The Romantic Lounge For Ladies
Colour Change Lipstick "Yellow to Mango" (KBeauty) - orange does not flatter me at all.
Ulta3
Colour Me Pretty Lip Crayon "Pretty Nude" - not the right kind of nude, obviously.
Ulta3
Satin Finish Lipstick "Firecracker" - orange experiment, failed miserably.
.
Lastly, everybody's fave, the liquid to matte lipstick and matte lip creams.
#RivetEmpties PURGE - Liquid/Cream Lipstick |
Australis
Velourlips Matte Lip Cream "Lun-Dun", "Noo-D Fighters", "Pa-Ree", "Rhi Rhi Wine-D" & "Tok-I-O" - some of the earliest Velourlips I bought (over 2 years ago), bye bye. I actually really like these.
Full Review [Video]
Boe Beauty
Matte Lip Cream "#33 Shock Pink" - smells like plastic, is a coloured lip gloss with a semi-matte finish.
NYX
Soft Matte Lip Cream "Ibiza" & "Transylvania" - I need the nude shades in this, because I love this formula.
Savvy
Ultra Matte Lip Colour "Icon" & "Lights, Camera" - actually really decent liquid lipsticks, just didn't get much use.
.
Congratulations, you made it to the very end! Purging is tough, but it is an important part of a beauty fiend's life - it makes sure you get rid of the stuff that you know is no longer good to use.
Have you purged your old cosmetics? Comment below, or tag @rivetlicker or #RivetEmpties on Instagram so I can see what you've got!
Items in this post may have been gifted or received as PR Samples, my opinions are my own.
Oh WOW!!! That is a lot of purging you've done! I feel a sense of accomplishment even though I had nothing to do with your purge. Great work! I'm sure the next post is going to be even better !
ReplyDeleteHaha! It does feel good getting rid of it all. Now to empty everything, rinse a bunch of bottles and into the recycling bin.
DeleteWow that's a hell of a lot of purging, well done! This post is inspiring me to do a small purge of my own! (I don't own too much in the way of beauty, I either use it or give it away before stuff expires...but sometimes things get forgotten.)
ReplyDeleteDo it! Post it! :)
